The Emirates is buzzing, the fans are dreaming, and the players are ready. After a hard-fought aggregate victory over Sporting CP, Arsenal have officially secured their place in the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the second consecutive year.

While the celebrations in the dressing room were loud, the focus has already shifted to the monumental task ahead: a two-legged showdown against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.

Speaking to VAVEL following the quarter-final triumph, Gabriel Martinelli couldn’t hide his excitement about the journey ahead and the chance to right the wrongs of last season’s semi-final exit.

"Everyone is Buzzing"

Reflecting on the achievement of reaching the final four, Martinelli highlighted the elite mentality brewing within Mikel Arteta’s squad.

"It feels amazing. We’re happy with this achievement — everyone is buzzing in the dressing room and we’re really happy," Martinelli told VAVEL. "We managed to not concede and we’re through... we can’t wait to play against Atletico."

Learning from the Past

Last season, the Gunners fell just short of the final after a heartbreaking semi-final loss to Paris Saint-Germain. For Martinelli, that experience isn’t a scar—it’s fuel. The Brazilian winger emphasized that the team is ready to apply the lessons they learned on the biggest stage.

"We are going to take what we did wrong last season to try to do right this season," he explained.

A Battle of Styles

Arsenal and Atletico Madrid are no strangers, having met earlier this season in the group stages. However, Martinelli knows that the stakes of a semi-final transform the nature of the contest. He expects a "battle" but insists the Gunners will not be playing it safe.

The most defiant quote of the interview came when he addressed the upcoming clash directly:

"I can’t wait to get to the game, it’s going to be another big one. We’ll go for it and we can’t wait to play them."

Why Martinelli Loves the Champions League

Martinelli has been in scintillating form in Europe this season, finding the "open" nature of continental football a perfect match for his explosive pace. He noted that while Premier League teams often sit deep, the Champions League allows him more space to run into—a warning sign for the Atletico defense.

"I've been working hard for those moments, to help this team. This is my club, my family. We want to win titles and I’m really happy with the way we’ve been doing things."

The Road to the Final

With the first leg fast approaching, the message from the Arsenal camp is clear: they aren't just happy to be there. They want the trophy.

Martinelli’s confidence reflects a team that has grown up on the European stage. Against a disciplined Atletico side, Arsenal will need every bit of that "go for it" attitude to secure their ticket to the final.

What do you think, Gooners? Can Martinelli and the boys overcome Simeone’s side? Let us know in the comments!
